Week 3’s main focus was on the letter B, the color blue, and the story of Noah’s ark (continuing our look at Genesis). Once again, we did a 3 day preschool week.
Both Little Hands to Heaven and Learn and Grow have their own theme for the various alphabet letters of the week. For the letter A, the theme was Adam (from the story of Adam and Eve) in the Christian curriculum Little Hands to Heaven. In the secular curriculum Learn and Grow, the theme for the letter A was apples. For the letter B, the theme is boat (from the story of Noah’s Ark) in Little Hands to Heaven, and bubbles in Learn and Grow.
We started the week out with a little repeat of the letter A. Together we read the story of Johnny Appleseed, the version recommended in Little Saints, and afterward colored a picture of Johnny Appleseed from Learn and Grow.

One of the Little Saints activities was supposed to involve coloring and putting letters on a coconut tree. I didn’t have sticker letters, nor did I consider this activity particularly right for her current developmental state, so we just did it together as a coloring activity for now.

Next Isa glued dried beans onto a blue letter B. Lots of emphasis on the letter B and words that start with the letter. This was a modified Learn and Grow activity.

Since bubbles is the “B” theme in Learn and Grow, I modified another of their activities. We glued blue bubbles onto a blue background.

Since we’d already introduced blowing bubbles in the backyard last week, every time I said the word bubbles she immediately looked at the bubble bottle and wanted to go outside. We even ‘hid’ the bubbles on top of the fridge because that’s all she ever wants to do, and sure enough she found them. Now she’s always looking for and pointing to her bubbles on top of the fridge…time for a new hiding spot. Unfortunately it’s been a cold and rainy week, so opportunities to play with bubbles outside have been nonexistent.
Some of her completed activities from day one…
Thursday we began with a Learn and Grow activity that involved bouncing balloons. Since we’re focusing on the letter B and color blue, I decided to spend time our time bouncing a blue balloon. Later in the game I added in a red balloon to reinforce the color red which we worked on last week. Isa is getting much better at catching with the help of using the slow moving balloons versus typical fast moving balls. She had so much fun playing with the balloons until one of them popped.

Next, we went back to the story of Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit with the Teach Me About God curriculum. After refreshing on that story, we did the corresponding activity of making the apple tree, which I again modified a bit.

Continuing on with Teach Me About God, we read the story of Noah and the Ark and did the corresponding activity of making an animal. Given Isa’s early interest in cats, I decided to help her make a cat for this project.

We finished up the week with two Little Hands to Heaven activities.
The first was finger painting the letter B with blue paint.
The second was making a rainbow. More specifically, a rainbow like God had sent as the sign of His promise to never again destroy the earth by flood (from the story of Noah’s Ark).

And her completed projects from the last two days…
And that pretty much sums up our third week of preschool!
You're doing an awesome educational things with Isa. I enjoy seeing her progress
