A Memorable May

Once again another month has flown by without us even noticing. Seriously, where does the time go?

To start, in late April we were able to score an amazing deal on a pair of LeapPad Ultras for the kids. By combining an unadvertised sale, store rewards, and price matching we were able to get 2 LeapPad Ultras (regularly $120 each) and 3 game cartridges (regularly $25 each) for a total of only $6 out of pocket.

Isa got a purple LeapPad and Mr X got a green one. They both love them and play on their tablets every day. The LeapPad Ultra tablet rocks! Even with two of them, the kids still end up fighting over them. I foresee many years of good fun, reading and learning going on with these tablets. Even I have found myself playing games on the kids’ tablets…shh!

Also at the end of April I was invited to a friends Norwex party. I had no idea what to expect and left rather impressed but also skeptical. So I decided to do my own research on Norwex products to see if they really were all they were cracked up to be. After all, how is it even possible to truly clean my whole house, bacteria and all, with JUST WATER?! That can’t be possible…can it?

So after a week of feverish research on Norwex and a similar, yet much cheaper, alternative called e-Cloth I was convinced that I had to try this relatively ‘new’ method of cleaning out for myself. Soon I was obsessed with all things Norwex and e-Cloth. And to further fuel my new obsession my friend let me borrow a couple of her Norwex products for a week. This was truly a case of love at first use. I didn’t need to borrow the Norwex for a week, I was completely sold on it as soon as I was done cleaning my entire kitchen (including countertops, sink, stove top, microwave, table, trash can, all the kitchen appliances and more) in less than 15 minutes. I had cleaned so much in so little time that I was literally searching the house for other things to clean. What world am I living in again? With two kids constantly messing up everything, anything that keeps my house cleaner and safer and requires much less time to keep it that way is a MUST. Fast forward to Mother’s day and I received a small arsenal of e-cloth products. Seriously, I think this might have been the best Mother’s day ever.

I could go on and on about how much I love my e-cloth products but I will spare you all as I’m sure you’ve heard more than you probably care to on the subject. Though I will say that I spend only a fraction of the time on cleaning that I used to and my house has never been cleaner. Going from 30 minutes to 5 minutes to clean my whole kitchen and from 30 minutes to 5 minutes to mop my entire first floor (all hardwood)…yes please! Rarely (probably never) do I get this excited about cleaning but e-Cloth is definitely a life changer.

Getting back to the kids, Isa surprised me one busy morning. I had just sat down to eat my breakfast when a little voice behind me said “Look mommy, a sun.” I turned around to find her wonderful little freehand drawing of a sun on the tablet. I grabbed my phone and took a less than stellar picture with it in low lighting so I apologize for the poor quality but it gets the point across.

Not only has Isa been getting out on her new bike but she’s also been trying her luck with the scooter.

And Isa’s not the only getting around on wheels. She even helps her brother out on the trike (and swing)!

Speaking of helping, Isa has become quite the helper in lots of ways. Not only does she help her brother all the time but she also helps take care of the dogs from feeding to walking to washing!

Mr X went to the dentist for the first time this month. It’s safe to say this one is what they, at the office, call a “screamer”!

Save me mommy!

One of our most recent projects at Babygarden was making “Boo boo bunnies”. These cute little bunnies made from a simple white washcloth hold an ice cube inside the body and are placed on a “boo boo” like a cold pack. I love how super cute and functional this particular craft was.

Moving on to Isa’s school crafts, after reading the story of the Three Little Pigs, Isa made a house of sticks, straw and “bricks”.

Continuing on in the alphabet, we worked on the letters Q, R and S.

For the letter Q she glued Q-tips to the capital letter and “quilt squares” to the lowercase letter. Mr X is growing more and more interested in Isa’s activities and actually helped place the quilt squares on the lowercase letter.

For the letter R she painted “raindrops” onto the capital letter and a rainbow onto the lowercase letter.

And finally for the letter S she glued pieces of straws to the capital letter and pieces of string to the lowercase letter.

Also for the letter S we took the kids out to the beach and found shells.

This was Mr X’s first time running barefoot on a sandy beach, he loved it!

Lastly, we enjoyed our first pool day of the summer. The kids had so much fun.

To close, here are a couple candids from the past month. Enjoy!

Shopped until he dropped!
