Back to School!

That time of year is back and class is back in session! This year we have Isa in Kindergarten and Mr X in preschool. We recently completed our 4th week of Kindergarten and Isa is quite enjoying it. We are currently enjoying a week long break after completing our first month back in school.

Our obligatory 1st day of class pics:

We have re-enrolled Isa with Seton this year for Kindergarten and are off to a great start. She also participated in Seton’s Summer Reading program and met all the requirements earning her a certificate of completion.

Most of the following pictures involve a few of her Seton science lessons which are much more hands on and photographable than her other subjects.

Studying effects of different conditions on plants:

Both kids are taking half day classes at Solomon’s Academy twice a week this year in addition to Isa’s full time Kindergarten curriculum. They are really enjoying the hands on learning at Solomon’s, the social experience, and I enjoying hearing all about their “adventures” in class.

Finally, Isa has begun her third year of dance at a new studio this year. And she is loving it so far!

Pregnancy update: We are officially 2 weeks into the third trimester and in the home stretch. I am very much feeling all the unpleasantness that comes with the third trimester and eager for November to get here as soon as possible. But so far everything is progressing as it should and all tests and measurements are coming back perfectly normal which we are grateful for. Come on November! In the meantime I am enjoying the cooler temps and so very much looking forward to fall.

In closing, here are a few pics of the kids enjoying the pool.

What a summer!

It’s hard to believe it’s been another 3 months since my last post, but here we are. About a week and a half after my last post in early May, Isa had wrapped up her Pre-K school year. The day after her last day of schoolwork we closed on our new house and so began the moving process…yet again! We started moving as much as we could ourselves for the first 2 weeks which generally involved 3 trips per day to the new house between the 2 of us. Because Erasmo had to work, 2 of those daily trips were up to me and the kids who were very tolerant of the ordeal. Then on Memorial Day we had the movers come in and deal with the large and heavy stuff that was beyond our individual abilities and we were officially calling the new house “home”.

It is now 2 months later and while the vast majority is unpacked we do still have a few boxes laying around that still need to be addressed. All in good time! Thankfully the house is looking much more like a normal, lived in home.

The same week that we moved in, Isa had her dance recital which she was terrified of unfortunately. The chaos, noise and general madness that comes with recitals is not exactly the most inviting for someone as reserved as she is.

Shortly after moving in we went to Cathedral Caverns State Park where we took the cave tour. What a unique and interesting place to visit to learn about caves, their structures, how they are formed and the history of this particular cave. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera and all I have to share are cell phone pictures.

In June the kids attended summer camp at the academy where they will also be taking classes twice a week this fall. They both had a lot of fun while learning in the process, win-win!

July was a bit more enjoyable with some time at the library for storytime, weekly $1 movies at the local theater, pool time and a trip to North Carolina.

August is going to see us picking up steam and getting a lot busier in different ways. While the unpacking and organizing is slowing, we’ll be busier in other ways. Next week we’ll be starting up Isa’s Kindergarten year...well, hopefully, provided her school books arrive by the end of this week. Then the following week the kids’ twice a week classes at the academy will begin, in addition to the fall storytime schedule at the library and Isa’s new dance class at a different dance studio. Lot's of exciting, new things await us this school year and we're eager to get started!

Side note, the pregnancy is progressing just fine thus far. We are now at 24 weeks and I'm doing quite well although I am beginning to slow down a little activity-wise. This little one is proving to be quite the little mover and shaker. It's been 4 years since my last pregnancy so I honestly cannot remember anymore how active the other two were by comparison. I do appreciate how active she is though as it's a frequent reminder that she's doing alright, even if she does keep me up at night with her acrobatics...little blessings!
