Merry Christmas!

Christmas, my favorite time of the year, is here! Between the Christmas songs (playing non-stop all day, every day) in our house, Christmas tree, lights, stockings, cards and story books we’re sharing with the children I am enjoying a small slice of heaven on earth.

Since we’re in a rental for a “short” time, we didn’t want to unpack all the usual Christmas decorations so we kept it low key this year. That means instead of the usual 7.5 ft tree, this year we set up our little 4 ft tree my other half and I have had since we were dating. The kids had just as much fun decorating the little tree as they would have the larger one.

Before I get too ahead of myself though, let me back up to the month of November since my last post.

A certain someone celebrated his 3rd birthday with family and friends in FL and enjoyed a trip to SeaWorld.

Trying to stay warm in the 32 degree penguin enclosure!

Thanksgiving brought with it a fun trip to North Carolina where we got in some hiking and Isa did some more horseback riding.

I think the highlight of the trip was the climb up Chimney Rock. Great way to work off those extra Thanksgiving calories!

The kids are still enjoying storytimes at the library and making some friends in the process. One week the kids got involved in a contagious Ring Around the Rosie game. We have recently moved up to the higher age group storytime segment and both kids are getting so much more involved.

Isa continues to enjoy her schoolwork and we’re only two short weeks away from the third quarter. Almost halfway through this school year. Wow, that was fast!

We enjoyed walking the Galaxy of Lights at Huntsville Botanical Gardens. They had many beautiful Christmas light displays, a snow machine part way through the tour, pictures with Santa and a hot chocolate/cookie stand. The kids had a wonderful time.

Dance lessons continue to go very well for Isa. Her participation is great and her teachers tell me she learns much faster than other kids her age but most importantly she enjoys it. Here are some photos from her last class this month where it was Parents day (we got to sit in the classroom and watch) and they got to dance in Christmas attire.

To start winding down, here are a few random pictures taken over the past 2 months…

Walking the Stations of the Cross before Mass one day.

Dad's little helpers raking leaves.

And in closing, here are some pictures of the kids with Santa at a Christmas party. Not only did they finally smile with Santa, but for the first time also talked to him and shared what they want for Christmas. It’s the little things…
