Happy 2016!

Wow, it’s 2016 already and we had such a great year that I’m sad to see 2015 behind us. Picking up where I left off we’ve had a whole lot of fun the last few months. Starting with Halloween, it seems like the holidays have rushed by us in a big whirlwind of activity. But we did have a wonderful time visiting our families.

Shortly after Halloween we celebrated Mr X’s 2nd birthday. My how the time does fly!

One of our fall activities involved finding different leaf shapes in the yard (there were certainly plenty to choose from!) and making leaf imprints. This was a repeat activity for Isa but a new experience for Mr X.

After finishing imprints, Isa decided to color her sheet how she wanted.

Also in November was visitor day at Isa’s dance studio. So I got an opportunity to watch Isa dance from inside the classroom. Here are a few shots I captured during the class…

In December Isa was very helpful in the kitchen when it came to decorating Christmas cookies.

One of our December projects involved painting wooden Christmas ornaments.

Another project involved assembling and decorating a foam sleigh, Santa and reindeer.

For fun, one day the kids decorated a page full of foam Christmas items however their hearts desired.

And another project involved decorating a foam star, Christmas tree and snowflake.

The kids got to meet Santa on two separate occasions although Mr X was terrified of him in the flesh.

During one of our trips to FL we visited to the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville. The kids had fun there with their cousins.

On Christmas Eve the kids sprinkled reindeer food on the front yard to help guide them to our house. Yes, we were in short sleeves on Christmas Eve AND Christmas day!

Christmas morning they were thrilled that Santa had indeed made a stop at their house and left quite a few things behind for them.

We were blessed with a snow day on our trip to NC during which the kids were catching snowflakes. Mr X’s first experience with snow!

Getting back to education, Isa’s been progressing right along with tracing lines, shapes and letters. Even writing all her capital letters freehand and drawing some shapes. Both kids have a good grasp of their letters and letter sounds in addition to recognizing vowels and their many different sounds. In addition to his alphabet, Mr X has also learned most of his colors and shapes. These kids amaze me every single day!

One final project involved making styrofoam snowmen which have since become a very popular toy for the kids.

And now I’ll leave you with a few candids…
