Making Progress

Well, we now have a little dancer in our midst. Miss Isa started dance class at the beginning of September and now has 3 tap and ballet lessons under her belt. I believe she’s the shyest one in the class but is slowly starting to come around.

Around Labor Day weekend we went up to NC and the kids had fun with their Mima and Papi on the trip. We took a trip over to Greenville, TN where we visited the Andrew Johnson National Historic site. At the site we got to see Johnsons tailor shop and toured the Presidents homestead. Back in NC, we also visited Cades Cove and hiked the Craggy Gardens and Little Brier Gap trail. At Cades Cove we were treated to the opportunity to watch horses run and play in a pasture. Given Isa’s love of horses she was thrilled.

After our trip we had a playdate at a new playground that we’ve never been to before. The kids had a wonderful time exploring the new playground equipment.

This little boy was Isa's shadow most of the time at the playground.

Now that the fall sessions have started at the library, the kids are now going to the preschool storytime sessions. Last week the focus was on cats and one of the books read was titled ‘Pete the Cat’. So the craft of the week involved coloring Pete the Cat and a slider of his various shoe colors.

Mom got a laminator, which she absolutely loves by the way, and Isa ‘helped’ laminate one of our preschool activities. Here she is supervising the lamination of an apple for lacing practice.

Mom showed Isa how to lace the apple with a shoelace and Isa gave it a try. She surprised mom by lacing it an entirely different way but it was a job very well done nonetheless.

With the cooler weather we’ve been getting a lot more outside time in. With this increased playtime outside, the kids were introduced to the game of horseshoes.

Back in the “classroom” we spent this past week focusing on the story of Noah and the great flood from the book of Genesis. We read and talked about the story and worked on related crafts. Those crafts included a paper plate craft of Noah’s Ark as well as the rainbow symbolizing God’s promise never again to destroy the life on earth by flood.

Mr X didn't complete his rainbow because he just couldn't sit still that long!

Finally, Isa has started working on small puzzles this week, with guidance, and enjoys them very much.

And last but not least, a couple of candids for your enjoyment.

I love this picture of Mr X that was taken in NC.

Little Miss is crazy about ponies and horses, she can play with them for hours.
