Settling In

It’s now been about a month since my last update and we are finally starting to settle in. The house is slowly starting to look like a home and less like a disaster zone. As you can imagine, we have been keeping very busy this last month as we continue to unpack, build furniture, and organize. Here is a brief update on the highlights of the last month.

Isa being the ever inquisitive and active toddler that she is, has been very eager to help with just about everything.

Here she is helping Daddy put the bed frame together.

The kids’ playroom is also coming together nicely, granted it still has a ways to go yet but we’re getting there. Isa helped me put together her play school bus/desk in the playroom.

My birthday fell somewhere in the last month which coincided with a visit from my mom and stepfather.

Dakota was finally able to come home on my birthday also which made it all the better. Isa loves to gently pet him and even helps me brush out all the fur. Man, I had forgotten how much Siberians shed and was in for a real treat when I did my first brush out after getting him back. Talk about a fur storm!
Doggies waiting for the car to be unpacked.
Dakota trying to fit thru the little dog door like the Chihuahuas.
Dakota seems to enjoy his new home and is loving his walks with mom. No issues so far with his arthritis which is encouraging. He’ll be in to see the vet next week and hopefully there will be nothing but good news. He’s in good spirits, walking, running, playing, and handling stairs just fine so far, so I am not too concerned about his joints.

We had some help from various family members assembling the kids’ new backyard playset. It was about a week long project with a lot of stopping and starting but it is finally complete.

Here are a series of playset building progression photos:

I had two little supervisors helping with this step.

The kids, well mostly Isa at this point, love the playset. Isa begs to play on it every day and, no surprise, her favorite thing is the swing. Right now we only have one child swing and Isa refuses to share it with her brother. So we have another one ordered and on the way so they each have their own child swing in the near future.

We have a couple of new upcoming projects to be done on the house in the month of July, so it is my hope to get back into preschool lessons in August. I cannot believe how quickly the summer is flying by. I’m not entirely sure where the whole month of June went…I must have been buried in boxes!

Anyway, that’s my brief update for now…until next time!
